By Mass High Tech staff

Software maker The Mathworks has extended its ownership position in Natick’s Apple Hill office complex, acquiring its third building in the campus and gaining approvals to construct yet a fourth building.

The Mathworks paid $30.8 million for One Apple Hill, a three-story office building with 170,000 square feet of space. The company also said it received approvals to build an additional 150,000 square feet of office space in the Route 9 complex. The Mathworks, which develops technical computing and model-based design software for engineers and scientists, already owns and occupies Two Apple Hill and Three Apple Hill, buildings that it acquired in 2004. The Mathworks has 1,500 employees worldwide.

Garry Holmes of R.W. Holmes Realty represented MathWorks and David Capobianco and Zoe Zink of Atlantic Management negotiated on behalf of the seller, Atlantic Philadelphia Realty.

The MathWorks, which develops technical computing and model-based design software for engineers and scientists, also occupies Two & Three Apple Hill, which they acquired in 2004.
